Marketing Degrees
Discover what skills will bring out the extrovert in you that will help you succeed in the marketing field.

A marketing degree provides you with the confidence and skills that are much-needed in today’s economy. Many people think that marketing is all about administrative or cold-calling jobs; this is a misconception. Marketing is all about people skills and exciting, innovative strategies to target specific audiences that will be open to whatever product or service you are marketing.
Searching for the particular level of marketing to which you would like to aspire requires some research. How much time and effort you put into your studies will determine how far you can go as far as salary levels and positions within a company.
For example, an associate’s degree will only allow you an entry-level position in a customer service type job. A bachelor’s degree will offer you the skills to decide which area interests you the most. This could be in advertising or media strategizing. A master’s degree will take you even further as it opens doors to managing positions. Finally, a doctorate in marketing usually entails teaching positions at prestigious research colleges and universities.
The good thing about pursuing a degree in marketing is that you don’t have to decide immediately which degree you want to obtain. It’s actually better to go about it slowly so that you know which area of marketing you’d like to enter. Starting with an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree and combining either one with a good internship is one of the smartest ways to go about deciding on the path you wish to follow. Interning in marketing will often provide you with a mentor to whom you can go to if you have questions or need advice. The benefit of finding a strong, supportive mentor cannot be emphasized enough. In the fast-paced world of marketing, you will need that extra leverage.
